What are Terpenes?
What are terpenes?
Terpenes are natural compounds found throughout nature and are what give fruits, flowers, and cannabis their aroma and flavour. Additionally, terpenes contribute to the user experience of cannabis products. Simply put, different strains have different terpene concentrations which reportedly provide varying experiences.
At Wyld, we do not use strain specific batches, and instead opt to use botanical terpenes to consistently and predictably match consumer expectations of Sativa, Hybrid, or Indica strain effects. This process reintroduces terpenes lost during cannabis extraction and enhances our products with properties naturally found in plants.
Why botanical terpenes and not cannabis-derived terpenes?
During the isolate and distillate extraction process, the majority of terpenes present are lost due to the high heat and pressure used. We have opted to replace those terpenes lost with botanical terpenes, as they offer more consistent, repeatable effects than cannabis-derived terpenes, which can vary in concentration from plant to plant.
Wyld sources natural fruit and botanical terpenes that help facilitate a reliable experience every time.
Terpenes commonly associated with Sativa strains are: Limonene, Terpineol, Valencene, Alpha-Pinene, and Beta-Pinene. Those often associated with Indica strains are: Linalool, Myrcene, and Beta-Caryophyllene. These terpenes are also commonly found in essential oils, hops, lemongrass, and many spices.
The terpenes present in Wyld products are as follows:
