50K Trees Planted

Wyld is celebrating its Canadian launch by committing to planting 50,000 trees throughout the country in partnership with One Tree Planted.

Why trees? Trees help to clean the air we breathe, reduce the risk of soil erosion and flooding, and promote biodiverse habitats by providing a home to a variety of insects, fungi, plants, and mammals.

Healthy trees also act as carbon sinks, sequestering carbon from the atmosphere and reducing the effects of climate change, and it is widely acknowledged that planting trees is a key part of a complete climate strategy.

ONE TREE PLANTED

One Tree Planted’s projects restore forests in the wake of major wildfires like those in Paradise, California; repair damage caused by industry and resource extraction; and even support the endangered Southern Resident Orca of the Pacific Northwest. Since 2014, they have more than doubled the number of trees planted each year, and are currently working with partners across 43+ countries in North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Pacific.

PLANTING TREES TO REDUCE THE IMPACT OF FOREST FIRES IN BRITISH COLUMBIA

British Columbia is Canada’s most ecologically diverse province. In the summer of 2017, British Columbia experienced the worst wildfire season in its history -- these forests are still recovering from this devastating loss. By planting trees in B.C., you can help prevent wildfires from spreading catastrophically. Young, healthy forests help suppress future wildfires and reduce the impact of smoke on public health.

PLANTING TREES TO RESTORE CRITICAL WATERSHEDS AND HABITATS IN ONTARIO

With more than 60% forest coverage, Ontario's forests account for nearly 17% of Canada's forest coverage. Each of these regions hold their own unique biodiversity, and maintaining them is crucial. From polar bears to blue jays, to trillium flowers, Ontario's forests are filled with remarkable plants and animals. Conserving and restoring forests will directly benefit the wide range of biodiversity who call Ontario's wooded areas home.
